- Be sure to wear stocking or socks to minimize the possibility of skin irritation,
- Remember that shoe construction will affect your orthotics. Always bring your orthotics when you are buying a new shoe to ensure proper fit. (Try to find a shoe that come with thicker insert, adjustable lace option, more depth, so it has enough space for your orthotics)
- Always remove the insert in your shoes and replace it with your new orthotics. You might need to adjust the laces or buy a shoe shoes half size larger for proper fit and comfort. Occasionally the orthotics may squeak in your shoes. This can be eliminated by lightly sprinkling baby powder into the shoes.
- Care and cleaning: Wipe with lukewarm water (never hot). Avoid soaking and washing machines. Do not use oil or Vaseline on leather covered orthotic. Always allow 12 hours to dry before using.
- Should your orthotics need repair, return them to us. Do not attempt to correct or modify the orthotics yourself.
The inserts that were dispensed to are called ‘Orthotics’ and were made to the cast or digital image taken from your feet. Your orthotics were designed to correct the alignment of the feet and legs, thus relieving any symptoms of abnormal foot function.
During the next few weeks, your body will gradually become accustomed to this new and proper alignment. Because each human body I s different, the exact period of adjustment is difficult to determine, but it may take 2-6 weeks. During this adjustment period, you may experience mild discomfort in other parts of the body, such as knees, hips, or back. This discomfort is temporary and should disappear as the orthotics enable the feet to realign and function more efficiently.
